A book written many years ago warned us of a day rapidly approaching when the government would grow so big, so fat, so obscenely power hungry and desperate to create a “utopian” society they would watch our every move.
That novel, written by George Orwell, is the classic known as 1984, and much of what it prophesied about the intrusive nature of big government has come to pass in our day.
Remember the NSA spying scandal that broke a few years ago? Where the government was spying on emails and phone records for every day citizens without a warrant? The ability to track you using the GPS on your smartphone?
Or how about the IRS silencing Obama’s political opponents using the power of auditing against conservative groups? The shaming of conservatives by liberals in all levels of society and culture?
The homosexual agenda?
Well, Orwell’s masterpiece isn’t the only book ever written that some feel predicts this sort of interference by the government. Many Christians believe that one day, a one world government, or some sort of authority on its way to that end, will use microchips implanted in the skin as the “Mark of the Beast” foretold in the book of Revelation.
According to those who hold to this view of the end times, the antichrist will be the ruler of this one world government and will force anyone who wants to buy goods to have the mark, or in this case, the microchip.
What’s truly scary about this is the fact that an NBC report recently came out discussing the idea of microchipping children and how such a practice would become “normal” one day.
Could this actually be paving the way for the antichrist or is it just another means by which progressives are attempting to become the thought police and gain more control over Americans?
via Our Daily Ideas:
An NBC News report that promotes the microchipping of children asserts that it will happen “sooner rather than later” and that Americans will eventually accept the process as something just as normal as the barcode.
It goes on to highlight mother of three Steffany Rodroguez-Neely, who talks about how she briefly lost her daughter after she hid behind a rack of clothes, bringing to the fore, “every parent’s nightmare when you can’t find your child.”
“If it’ll save my kid, there’s no stuff that’s too extreme,” says Rodroguez-Neely. “Micro-chipping would be an extra layer of protection, if something bad does happen.”
Rodroguez-Neely goes on to explain how she has braved skepticism from members of the local Tampa Bay Moms Group, people like Kerri Levey, who are wary about implanting their own children.
“You’re putting a battery in your kid, you’re putting a chip in your kid. And, where does it stop,” asks Levey. “Where? It’s going too far. This is a child we’re talking about.”
“If a small chip the size of a grain of rice could have prevented a tragedy, I think most parents would have said, I think I would have done it,” responds Rodroguez-Neely.
The piece flips back to pushing the idea when it quotes electronics expert Stuart Lipoff, who asserts that microchipping children is safe and inevitable.
“People should be aware that testing is being done right now. The military is not only testing this out, but already utilizes its properties. It’s not a matter of if it will happen, but when,” states Lipoff.
The question on the minds of most believers will no doubt be whether this is truly a sign of the end times or not.
Well, to be honest, I’m not qualified to give an answer on that. It’s above my pay grade. Everyone has their own view of eschatology — end times — even among those who belong to the same system of thought.
Regardless of whether or not it is a fulfillment of biblical prophecy, this is something that should automatically raise a red flag.
A government that wants to put something inside the body of a human being with the purpose in mind of tracking its citizens is doing something that violates a person’s God-given right to privacy and liberty, attempting to watch them as a means of controlling them.
Human beings are to be allowed to go where they please, with only God and whoever they choose to inform knowing their whereabouts and what they are doing.
The reason the government wants so much power and authority over the citizenry is to keep them under control, to make sure they are doing as commanded at all times and if someone gets out of line or goes where they are told they cannot go, consequences are to follow.
Follow the program or pay the price. After all, Big Brother knows what’s best for you.
Some might say to be speaking out against such a thing is the height of paranoia or religious zealotry, but that’s not the case.
Anytime the government is overstepping boundaries or there is some new technology like this that could open the door for such a thing to occur, warnings need to be said and heeded.
I sincerely hope this isn’t a trend that takes off and that enough people are smart enough to recognize why this is bad news.
