Liberals drone on and on about equality and inclusiveness, bragging in such a perverse manner that you’d swear up and down they owned the corner market on morality.
Clearly, given the fact they support abortion, they do not, but they don’t let that stop them from being delusional.
What could possibly say tolerance, equality, and inclusivity more than giving students scholarships just for being gay or transgender?
That’s not discrimination or favoritism or anything, right?
Duke University is now offering an annual scholarship to students who receive need-based aid and also identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender.
The Carolinas LGBT Scholarship Fund will be awarded each year to an LGBT student who resides in North or South Carolina based on financial need and the student’s involvement in the LGBT community, according to the university’s website.
“The Carolinas Gay & Lesbian Scholarship at Duke University was endowed to encourage and reward involvement in the LGBT community,” the scholarship’s FAQ page reads. “The scholarship helps fund the education of a gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender undergraduate student from North or South Carolina attending Duke University. It was created to foster a more affirming atmosphere and encourage leadership among, lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender members of the Duke community.”
Easing the fears of those individuals who have not yet “come out” to their friends and family, the scholarship is partially confidential, and no reference to the LGBT community is made on any of the acceptance forms in order to protect those individuals.
“The scholarship is semi-confidential. The words gay, lesbian, or LGBT do not appear on any of the financial forms where the scholarship is listed, so it is possible to keep the nature of the award a secret if you decide to do so,” the website says.
The university says this is perfectly legal, stating there are already tons of scholarships available for other minorities, so no biggie on this one, right?
Sexual lifestyles are not the same as being born a member of a specific race or ethnicity. Let’s just get that out of the way right up front.
Secondly, I don’t think most people have a problem with the idea of scholarships being given out. What they object to is how the Left acts like awarding someone something just based off skin color or sexual preference isn’t totally hypocritical and should be denounced as such.
Equality means everyone is on the same level playing field. There are no protected classes of people. How is elevating one group of folks above another going to solve the problem of inequality?
Doesn’t that just create more of the problem?
Still waiting on the progressives to explain that one.
