Liberal college students have just proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that the main reason they hate President Trump has little to do with actual policy and more to do with how the media paints him up to be.
Students were absolutely thrilled with Trump’s tax plan, flocking to it like flies to manure. But only after being told it was Sen. Bernie Sander’s plan.
The ruse was put on by Campus Reform who visited George Washington University where they asked students what they thought of Trump’s tax plan. Before diving into their opinions, here’s a quick summary of the three parts of the plan:
1. Cut taxes for working families
2. Simplify the tax code
3. Reduce business tax rates
Now here’s what students had to say about this when they knew it was a plan from the president via TheBlaze:
“It’s better for the upper class than anyone else.”
“Pretty much horrible for the middle class, especially the lower class.”
“It’s probably not the most efficient nor beneficial to the general populace.”
Now compare and contrast those statements with the ones made when students were told it was Bernie Sander’s plan:
“I think that’s great.”
“I think [this] is definitely something we should be doing.”
“Good job, Bernie.”
“It’s a good plan, a positive plan that could help everyone.”
“Definitely better than what Trump is proposing.”
I think it’s safe to say these kids are massively, massively ill informed, wouldn’t you agree?
So how did they respond after discovering they actually agreed with Trump?
“I am shocked that I do agree with Trump on certain things.”
“I’m definitely happily surprised that it sounds a lot better than I would have expected.”
“I would have imagined that he would be a little more stupid than that.”
So the lesson to learn here, it seems, is that most college students don’t actually know what they believe or why they believe it. Nor do they understand the opposing worldview.
Most of them are likely just parroting their parents, teachers, professors, and people they hear in the media, going with the flow, with what’s popular on Facebook, rather than actually getting informed, engaging ideas, and seeking truth for themselves.
This is scary in some ways, because a lot of these kids are entering the work force, the real world, and when that happens, we, actual adults who have been seasoned by the trials of life, are going to have a really difficult time helping these folks adjust to the harsher sider of reality.
Anyway, just goes to show you how much power the media really has and why it’s more important than ever for conservatives to have a voice representing their views.
