It seems Colin Kaepernick, former quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, is determined to make shipwreck of his entire career, all for the sake of appearing “woke” for his buddies.
Kaepernick rose to infamy due to his bringing social activism onto the professional football field by opting to kneel down during the National Anthem, you know, to stand against racism or something of that nature.
The quarterback’s girlfriend obviously helped play a role in making him an activist as she was a very active protester with Black Lives Matter, and it wasn’t until after her influence these “protests” on the field took place.
It wasn’t long before other football players, desperate for a slice of the attention that Kaepernick was getting, to pick up the trend themselves. After all, nothing helps you look more relevant to the fans and possibly companies looking to sponsor athletes quite like fake outrage and hashtag activism.
In case you don’t already know, hashtag activism is a reference to being “politically active” in ways that don’t really cost you anything and are done mostly for show, to build up your following on social media. Like how celebrities will promote causes online, but not take any real action to help solve the problem.
Of course, as we know, fans of the NFL did not take too kindly to the disrespect these players, especially Kaepernick showed to our nation, those who fought and died for their freedom, and to the good police officers that put their lives on the line day in and day out to keep people safe.
Who wants to hear about a spoiled rich athlete complaining about how “oppressed” he is? It’s insulting.
As a result of Kaepernick’s action, fans decided they would spend their time elsewhere, opting not to tune into games on Sundays, causing the NFL’s ratings to tank.
People watch football for the love of the game. Sports are supposed to be one area of culture where we can all come together and enjoy a break from the insanity of the political climate in our nation, to get away from it all so to speak.
You’d think Kaepernick, who basically got booted from the league as no team wanted anything to do with him and his toxic activism, would learn by now to just let it go and move on, give it a break for a bit and see if he can salvage his career.
Nope. He’s moved on to another cause: protesting Trump and giving his precious money out to support DREAM activists.
via Daily Wire:
“Colin Kaepernick Foundation has donated to another $100,000 to DREAM, Coalition For The Homeless, War on Children, and United We Dream,” ESPN’s Adam Shefter stated.
Kaepernick’s website also stated that $25,000 would go to organizing illegal aliens who received DREAM act deferrals to go to Washington, D.C. to protest the rescinding of DACA.
The website stated, “10k for upcoming travel. Air, hotel, lodging, and ground transportation. United We Dream recently held event in Washington DC and sent 300 dreamers to lobby to keep DACA. This budget will pay for 75-100 attendees for a similar rally upcoming.”
TheBlaze states that United We Dream is considered the “largest immigrant youth-led organization in the world.”
Despite Kaepernick’s shameless controversies, from sitting for the anthem to wearing socks that depicted police officers as pigs to holding a press conference while wearing a t-shirt depicting the Cuban genocidal Communist Che Guevera, his supporters still target the NFL since no team will sign him, even as teams sign quarterbacks that may have less talent. As the The Daily Wire’s Emily Zanotti reported, Black Lives Matter activist Shaun King has vowed to boycott the NFL until Kaepernick is signed, and is asking others to do the same. King claims, “These white team owners cannot believe that Colin took a stance against injustice in America without their expressed permission and blessing. …”
Many individuals who are highly critical of Kaepernick have noted that no team in the league wants to deal with the negative press the guy drags around with him everywhere. You can guarantee the owners don’t want to see those ticket sales and ratings plummet again either.
Kaepernick is extremely bad for business.
Some will no doubt attempt to make the leap that the NFL team owners are trying to silence Kaepernick and oppress him due to his race, but that’s simply not the case at all. Clearly.
They just know that anyone who participates in anti-American gestures or acts on the field is going to tick off fans and make them less likely to tune in Sundays or a buy a ticket to the game. Pro-football is a big money maker and no one wants to hurt their own bottom line.
No, the plight that Kaepernick finds himself in is one of his own devising, and unfortunately, despite the hefty consequences that have fallen on his shoulders, he doesn’t seem to have learned a thing from the experience.
