Our society today is completely oversaturated in sex, making it nigh to impossible to turn your eyes anywhere without being bombarded by some sort of message promoting promiscuity or sex before marriage.

Nowhere is this seen more clearly than in the staggering number of people who watch and/or are addicted to pornography.

According to Fight The New Drug, in 2016 popular porn site Pornhub got a staggering 23 billion visits, which equals out to 729 people per second, and 64 million per day. That roughly equals out to the entire population of the United Kingdom.

This epidemic is destroying marriages left and right, and what’s even more tragic is that many of the unions being ripped asunder are Christian.

If someone dares to wait until they are married before engaging in sexual activity, they are often mocked, ridiculed, and scorned by our godless pop culture who sees no value in living for the glory of God and upholding biblical values.

Well, it seems support for such a lifestyle is now coming from a very unlikely source, one that will leave believers and unbelievers alike in shock.

Brittni Ruiz was a typical broke college graduate who needed to earn some extra money to help make ends meet, and chose to do so by stripping.

One thing led to another and before long, she moved beyond stripping to being a full on adult film star, featuring in hundreds of pornographic movies under the name “Jenna Presley.”

She was making massive amounts of money and earning a lot of fame for her work, but at the cost of her self-image, which was essentially going swirly in the toilet.

After a month in the industry she began using drugs like cocaine as a means of dealing with the emotional damage being inflicted on her by her chosen profession.

Ruiz eventually met a member of XXX Church, an organization that has dedicated themselves to helping porn stars and addicts alike leave behind this destructive evil and live lives that are pleasing to Jesus.

The individual handed her a ‘Jesus Loves Porn Stars’ pamphlet, which along with the loving acceptance of the group themselves, awakened her curiosity. Not long afterward she accepted Christ and dedicated her life to the Lord.

“As I began reading the Bible, I learned a new way of living,” Brittni explained. “I knew God had given me a second chance at life and I wanted to do whatever I could to do it right this time.”

She began going to church, where Pastor Richard De La Mora was preaching a message specifically to the women in the room about how treasured and loved they are by God.

“I went into church so broken and had come to the end of myself. I was so far down in life I had nowhere to look but up,” she said in a recent blog post.

Years later, Brittni and Richard had developed an incredible friendship, and they eventually started dating.

For Richard, a pastor, it was never about erasing Brittni’s past, but embracing it. He was able to love her for how God had transformed her past, and celebrate with her in what God had created for her future.

After leaving the porn industry for good, Brittni had made a commitment to celibacy. Even while dating Richard, Brittni stayed true to her sexual purity.

“Sexual purity is not easy, but it is possible, and if I can do it, so can you.”

While some folks might not think it’s possible to live a life of abstinence after being a porn star, the truth of the matter is, Brittni was born again, made new by the blood of Christ.

Her actions are totally in line with a genuine faith as evidenced by a complete commitment to living obediently to the Word of God.

“I am so grateful that my husband and I chose to honor God over our desires and temptations,” she said on her blog. “We did it the right way because we did it God’s way. Because of this I can truly say that I have been blessed with a great marriage. God continues to favor us and bless us with mind blowing opportunities. I say this to encourage you because God is faithful to those whom are faithful to Him.”

This is a beautiful story of how Jesus can redeem those many would consider beyond help and hope, transforming their tragedies and sinful decisions into a tale that gives Him the ultimate glory.

Brittni’s story should remind us that not only is the grace of God capable of saving anyone, including porn stars, but that it’s never too late to turn your life over to Christ and honor Him with your sexuality, even if you’ve messed up.

Ruiz’s message is especially important in a day and age where being promiscuous and sexually active outside of God’s design — marriage — is not only considered normal, it’s encouraged and celebrated.

It reveals the dangers of the pornography industry and how being sexually active can do some serious damage to your mental and physical health.

Let’s hope people are listening to this beautiful story of love and grace, taking to heart the lessons Ruiz has learned and avoiding the same mistakes.
