Liberals and other modern day progressives believe whole heartedly in the principle of never allowing a good tragedy to go to waste.

After all, such incidents are simply perfect for convincing people to give up their God-given liberty in exchange for false security handed out by the government.

Leftists never waste a moment of some awful event, particularly mass shootings, as has been clearly evidenced by their typical knee jerk reaction of calling for gun control in light of a recent shooting at a church in Texas.

While most just simply take to social media to participate in their hashtag activism in order to look relevant and “woke,” one Democratic congressman decided to take things to a whole new level by doing something utterly deplorable during a moment of silence reserved for the victims of this horrific incident.

In a shocking display of callousness, Democratic Congressman Ted Lieu walked out during a moment of silence to memorialize the 26 people who were murdered by Texas church shooter Devin Kelley.

“I can’t do this again,” Lieu said on Facebook. “I’ve been to too many moments of silences. In just my short period in Congress, three of the worst mass shootings in us history have occurred. I will not be silent.”

The junior congressman from California hijacked the moment of silence in the House of Representatives to grandstand. Lieu used the shooting in Sutherland Springs, Texas, to rant about gun control.

“I urge us to pass reasonable gun safety legislation, including a universal background check law supported by 80 percent of Americans, a ban on assault rifles and a ban on bump stocks,” Lieu said. “We need to do that, we cannot be silent. We need to act now.”

How much of a jerk does one have to be to hijack a moment meant to honor the dead to promote a twisted political agenda designed to take away people’s right to defend themselves? It’s despicable!

Aside from that, Devin Kelley, the shooter in question, was already banned from owning firearms. A glitch in the system is what enabled him to purchase the weapon used in the attack. No amount of gun control would’ve prevented this.

In fact, it was a good guy with a gun that kept this from being even worse.

If Lieu wants to lobby for gun control, despite doing so being a violation of the Constitution, then he should do it on his own time, not during a moment to show respect for victims and their families.
