Hurricane Irma

The damage suffered from Hurricane Harvey is all too fresh, but there is the possibility of an even worse storm headed our way, Hurricane Irma. The storm seems to be getting stronger at a pace that has stunned meteorologists.

The damage that Irma could do “would be absolutely unprecedented.” The economic damage due to Harvey is already set to be more than any other disaster our nation has seen and Irma could be even worse than that. “According to the National Hurricane Center, at 5 PM on Friday Irma already had sustained winds of 130 miles per hour.”

Puerto Rico as of Monday, has declared a state of emergency in preparation for the current Category 4 storm, which is set to hit there Wednesday. It could potentially hit the Caribbean and head in the direction of the East Coast, but it is still too early to tell. Although the Saffir-Simpson functions on a 1-5 scale, this Hurricane could carry damages far worse than any other we have seen.
