On September 11, 2012, a group of radical Islamic terrorists launched an assault on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Lybia. The attack lasted 13 hours and ended with the deaths of four American citizens, including Ambassador Christopher Stevens.
For quite some time before the attack, our people working at the consulate had felt like they were in danger and had sent in repeated requests for additional security, but these cries for help fell on the deaf ears of Hillary Clinton’s State Department.
After the attack, Clinton attempted to pin the blame for the attack on a video, denying it was a terrorist attack at first, likely in an attempt to prevent then President Obama from looking bad during an election year.
For both actions, not answering these requests and then the cover up, Hillary needs to be behind bars, yet she’s walking free today in a major miscarriage of justice.
Now, one of the terrorists responsible for the attack, Ahmed Abu Khattala, the supposed mastermind behind it, is being charged and put on trial. During testimony on Monday, the final words of Ambassador Stevens were released. This is heartbreaking and brave at the same time.
via The Daily Wire:
Diplomatic Security Special Agent Scott Wickland, the ambassador’s bodyguard, revealed Stevens’ harrowing last words:
“When I die, you need to pick up my gun and keep fighting,” Stevens told Wickland.
Independent Journal Review reports on Wickland’s testimony:
In his testimony, Wickland admitted he didn’t know if he was going to survive the attack. He also described the heartbreaking moment he lost Stevens and U.S. State Department staffer Sean Smith.
Wickland said he saw Stevens and Smith crawling behind him as they searched for a bedroom with a window to escape out of. When he exited the window, he was alone.
Vomiting from the smoke and taking fire, Wickland climbed out of the room and pulled the ladder up.
“That’s when I knew [Stevens and Smith] were dead,” Wickland recalled.
According to The Washington Post, “Abu Khattala has pleaded not guilty to 18 counts including murder, attempted murder, material support of terrorism and destruction of U.S. facilities in the Benghazi attacks of Sept. 11 and Sept. 12, 2012. He faces a life sentence if convicted.”
Everyone involved in this horrific incident, both in our government and the terrorists who murdered innocent people, need to be held accountable for their actions, placed in jail or in the case of the jihadis, given the death penalty.
The families of the victims need to have some sort of justice, the peace of mind that comes from knowing those responsible for the deaths of those they love have been punished and balance restored.
The only fitting punishment for murder is the death penalty, which was instituted by God and is mentioned in both Old and New Testaments. A human life is made in the image of God, so to murder another person is the ultimate treason on the Creator, which is why it’s worthy of death.
Let’s hope Hillary and her ilk are put behind bars for their actions in this tragedy.
